Toc H SA and Cooinda Retreats to Host Fleurieu Peninsula Youth Climate Summit 2026
We are pleased to share an important community update regarding Toc H South Australia and Cooinda Retreats.
On Thursday, 4 June 2026, Toc H South Australia, through Cooinda Retreats, will proudly host the Fleurieu Peninsula Youth Climate Summit 2026, a significant regional initiative bringing together approximately 75 secondary school students from across the Fleurieu Peninsula.
The Summit focuses on sustainability, climate leadership, innovation, and community action, giving young people the chance to engage with practical ideas and return to their schools inspired to make a difference.
Regional Collaboration in Action
We warmly acknowledge the partnership and leadership of:
City of Victor Harbor
District Council of Yankalilla
Alexandrina Council
The collaboration of three council regions in support of local youth reflects a shared commitment to the future wellbeing, resilience, and leadership capacity of the Fleurieu community.
Representatives from councils, schools, industry, and the wider community are expected to take part alongside students, helping create a day of ideas, learning, and connection.
A Powerful Expression of Service and Volunteerism
The selection of Cooinda Retreats strongly aligns with the purpose of Toc H South Australia and the wider Toc H movement, which has always championed service, fellowship, and practical community action.
A key strength of the Youth Climate Summit is that every young person attending is being encouraged to become an active contributor within their school and community. They are not simply attending an event, they are being invited to step forward, lead projects, support others, and make positive local change.
In that sense, the Summit is helping activate the next generation of volunteers, community leaders, and citizens.
Cooinda Retreats is proud to assist by providing the space, hospitality, encouragement, and partnership needed for that development to occur. Supporting people to discover their ability to contribute is one of the most meaningful forms of service.
Why Cooinda Retreats Is the Right Setting
Cooinda Retreats offers an environment where learning, reflection, collaboration, and connection can occur naturally. Surrounded by open space and nature, it is a place where young people can step away from routine settings and engage deeply with ideas that matter.
The event also reflects the broader vision for the site as a future community centre project, a regional hub where education, wellbeing, environmental initiatives, youth development, volunteer participation, and community partnerships can continue to grow.
Toc H South Australia Presentation
As part of the Summit program, Adam Hooper and Beck Butler will present on behalf of Toc H South Australia, sharing the organisation’s practical sustainability journey and community leadership approach.
Their presentation will focus on:
Circular economy thinking and reducing waste at the source
Food waste management and smarter resource use
Responsible hospitality practices within community settings
Turning everyday operations into measurable environmental outcomes
How grassroots organisations and volunteers can lead change through practical action
Building community projects that combine environmental and social outcomes
Students will hear firsthand how local leadership, creativity, volunteer effort, and persistence can create real environmental progress.
The session will also highlight that sustainability is about everyday service through kitchens, gardens, events, mentoring, hospitality, and the practical care of community spaces.
Looking Forward
We are proud to see Cooinda Retreats increasingly recognised as a place where meaningful regional initiatives can flourish.
Most of all, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of Fleurieu leaders and contributing to a day filled with ideas, optimism, and practical inspiration.
